What happens if I delete the eSIM because I think it's not working?

Don't delete it: once removed, the eSIM can't be re-downloaded or reinstalled – a second download simply isn't possible. This means that you need to purchase a new eSIM, as eSIMs are not refundable. If the connection doesn't work right away, it's usually because your phone hasn't reached the Indonesian network yet, the eSIM isn't set as the active data line, or data roaming is not turned on - not because it's broken. Please contact us if your eSIM is not working, and we'll help you. If it has already been deleted, you'll need to purchase a new eSIM.

How much eSIM data do I need for my trip to Bali or Indonesia?

It depends on how you'll use your phone. As a rough guide: - 5 GB suits light use over about 1-2 weeks (maps, messaging, some social media); - 12–20 GB suits a 2–4 week trip with regular social media, video calls and browsing; - 30–50 GB suits longer stays, hotspot use, or heavy streaming and video calls. You can always buy a new eSIM if you run out of data.

Last updated on Sep 17, 2026

Can I use this eSIM alongside my regular SIM card (dual SIM)?

Yes. An eSIM runs alongside your physical SIM card, so you can keep your home number active for calls and SMS while using the eSIM for mobile data in Indonesia. Turn off data roaming on your home SIM and set the eSIM as your active data line to avoid roaming charges. Please note that there are fees for SMS or phone calls with your home SIM.

What is the difference between MREP and EPO?

Although both MREP and EPO relate to exiting Indonesia, they serve very different purposes: MREP – Multiple Exit and Re-entry Permit A MREP allows foreigners holding a stay permit (e.g., KITAS or KITAP) to: - leave Indonesia, and - re-enter while their stay permit remains valid. Without a MREP, your stay permit becomes invalid as soon as you exit the country. MREP = You leave and come back. EPO – Exit Permit Only An EPO is used when you: - permanently leave Indonesia, or - terminate your KITAS/KITAP. Once the EPO is issued, your stay permit is officially closed, and you must leave Indonesia. After an EPO, you cannot re-enter using the old permit — you must apply for a new visa. EPO = You leave and do NOT come back under the same permit.

Why does the government require LKPM reporting from my business?

The Indonesian government requires LKPM reporting to monitor the real progress of your investment. The report allows authorities to: - verify that your project is being implemented according to your permits - compare your actual investment spending with the committed amount - identify delays or issues that investors commonly face - ensure that your PMA remains compliant with investment regulations Submitting the LKPM on time helps you avoid compliance flags, warnings, or potential sanctions on your business license.

Last updated on Nov 28, 2025

My business hasn’t started operations yet - do I still need to submit the LKPM?

Yes. LKPM reporting starts as soon as your Business Identification Number (NIB) and project permits are active — even if you haven’t begun operations. During the pre-operational phase, you must still report any capital expenditures (CapEx), such as: - land acquisition - construction - equipment purchases - early investments related to the project If no spending occurred, you must still submit the LKPM with “no activity” to remain compliant.

Last updated on Nov 28, 2025

My investment amount is relatively small - do I still need to submit the LKPM?

Yes, in most cases. Only Micro Enterprises (UMi) are fully exempt from LKPM reporting. If the OSS system classifies your company as Small, Medium, or Large, you are required to submit the LKPM: - Small enterprises: submit every 6 months (semi-annual) - Medium & large enterprises: submit every quarter Your reporting obligation depends on your OSS classification — not on how much you actually invest.

Last updated on Nov 28, 2025

Can I handle the LKPM reporting myself without using a consultant?

Yes, it is possible. The LKPM report can be submitted directly by the business owner or an appointed staff member through the government’s OSS system. However, in practice, it requires significant time every quarter to categorize investment data correctly, handle foreign currency conversions, and stay updated on frequent regulatory changes. Using a professional service ensures accurate and timely submissions — and reduces the administrative workload for your team.

Last updated on Nov 28, 2025

I have multiple KBLI codes. Do I need to submit LKPM reports separately, or can I combine them?

You must report your realized investment separately for each active project and for each KBLI code listed under your NIB. Each KBLI represents a distinct business activity with its own investment commitments and compliance requirements. For this reason, LKPM reporting cannot be combined — every KBLI must be reported individually to ensure full compliance with BKPM regulations.

Last updated on Nov 28, 2025

I’m a foreign (PMA) investor. How do I handle foreign currency conversions in the LKPM?

All LKPM reporting must be completed in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). If your investment expenses were made in a foreign currency (e.g., USD, EUR, SGD), you must convert the amount into IDR using the official exchange rate that applied on the exact date of the transaction. This ensures that all financial data in the LKPM matches Indonesia’s regulatory requirements and avoids discrepancies during compliance checks.

Last updated on Nov 28, 2025

What exactly is the LKPM in Indonesia?

The Investment Activity Report (LKPM) is a mandatory report that every PT PMA (foreign-owned company) must submit to Indonesia’s Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). It contains updates on your company’s investment progress, business activities, workforce, and financial performance. The LKPM serves as an oversight tool for the government to ensure that companies comply with their investment commitments. Incorrect data, late submissions, or missing reports can lead to warnings, administrative sanctions, or even restrictions on your company’s future permits. Because the LKPM requires precise and consistent data, many companies find it time-consuming and resource-intensive, often taking time away from daily operations.

Is there any daily transaction limit in Indonesian banks?

Yes. Almost all Indonesian banks apply daily transaction limits for ATM withdrawals, bank transfers, online banking, and QRIS payments. The exact limits depend on the bank, your card type, and your account tier. For example, basic accounts may have lower limits, while premium accounts allow higher daily transactions. If you need higher limits, most banks allow you to request an increase by visiting a branch or updating your account type.

Last updated on Nov 27, 2025

Can I pay with QRIS when I have an Indonesian bank account?

Yes. Once you have an Indonesian bank account, you can pay everywhere using QRIS — Indonesia’s universal QR payment system. QRIS is accepted at supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, taxis, markets, and even small street vendors. Payments are instant, convenient, and usually come with no additional fees.

Last updated on Nov 27, 2025

Why is having a personal Indonesian bank account better than using a foreign bank account?

Having an Indonesian bank account offers major advantages compared to relying on a foreign account: - Lower fees: You avoid high foreign transaction and ATM withdrawal fees. - Better exchange rates: Local banks typically offer much better conversion rates than foreign cards. - QRIS payments everywhere: Indonesia runs almost entirely on QRIS — many shops, cafés, and services accept only local QR payments. - Easier local payments: Many online services, subscriptions, deliveries, and utilities do not accept foreign cards. - Receiving money locally: Getting transfers from Indonesian clients, employers, or agencies is faster and cheaper. - Higher acceptance overall: Some ATMs and terminals simply reject foreign cards. A local account is the most convenient and cost-effective way to handle everyday life in Indonesia.

Do I have to be in Indonesia for the PMA incorporation process?

No. You do not need to be in Indonesia to incorporate a PMA company. If you are abroad, all required documents can be signed digitally, and the entire incorporation process can be completed remotely. We will handle the registration, licensing, and submissions on your behalf, so you only need to be in Indonesia once your operational activities begin — not for the company formation itself.

Last updated on Nov 26, 2025

How do I choose the PMA company name?

In Indonesia, the legal company name of your PT PMA is not the same as your brand name — and in most cases, it does not need to match what customers see. A PT PMA company name must consist of three words, but the actual wording is not very important for your daily operations or branding. Simply share your company name idea with us (three-word format), and we will check its availability and approval with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Your brand can continue to operate under any trade or marketing name you prefer.

Last updated on Nov 26, 2025

How many KITAS for foreigners can my new PMA company sponsor?

There is no official maximum limit on how many KITAS a PMA company can sponsor. However, in practice, immigration evaluates each case based on: - the size and activity of your company - the amount of paid-up capital - the number of Indonesian staff - the type of KITAS being sponsored (especially for Investor KITAS) For Investor KITAS, we recommend not sponsoring too many investors, as it may raise concerns during evaluation and reporting. A balanced structure with both local staff and a reasonable number of foreign workers helps maintain compliance and smoother approval processes.

Last updated on Nov 26, 2025

Do we have to hire Indonesian citizens as staff in our PMA company?

Yes. Every PMA company is required to employ at least 3 Indonesian staff members. This is part of Indonesia’s regulation to ensure local employment and to balance the hiring of foreign workers. Typically, these positions can be: - administrative staff - finance or accounting roles - operational support - other non-managerial roles Hiring local staff is also necessary for compliance, reporting, and maintaining a healthy company structure in Indonesia.

My visa has expired. What can I do?

If your visa has already expired, you must expect to pay an overstay fine of 1,000,000 IDR per person per day. The fine must be paid in cash at the airport or at the Immigration Office when you leave Indonesia. It's important to plan a bit of extra time for the payment process. Longer overstays can lead to more serious consequences, such as: - Complications with future visa applications - Deportation - Entry bans What should you do now? ✔ 1. If your visa type can still be extended Start the extension process immediately. Whether an extension is still possible depends on your visa type and how long you have overstayed. ✔ 2. If an extension is not possible Leave Indonesia as soon as possible to minimize the overstay fine and avoid further consequences. Important: The longer you remain in Indonesia without a valid visa, the higher the risk of: - increased fines - administrative issues - immigration investigations If you are unsure whether your visa can still be extended, contact us, and we will assess your options.

When can a visa be rejected?
